What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Congratulations! You’ve taken the initial step toward your new smile by scheduling your first appointment with Dr. Carl Roy. We take immense pride in serving our community with the highest level of orthodontic care. We understand that visiting a new office can be stressful if you don’t know what to expect. That is why we have compiled this information – so you can find out all there is to know about your first visit at Roy Orthodontics. At our practice, we believe everyone should receive the utmost in quality care. Therefore, we treat our patients just as we would treat a member of our own family.

When You Arrive

So that we can begin your patient records, you will be asked to fill out our new patient paperwork when you arrive. You can also download our online forms, fill them out ahead of time, and bring them with you to the office. You will be asked for information regarding your medical history, current medications, specific dental goals, and more. This information will help us become acquainted.

If you have dental insurance, be sure to bring any pertinent information with you, including your insurance card. Some plans include orthodontic coverage. Our team of financial experts can help you determine if treatment will be covered by your policy.

Your Initial Consultation

Once you have completed your paperwork, a member of our clinical team will escort you to a consultation room. Here, you will become acquainted with our staff as they closely listen to your goals and concerns. You will also be introduced to Dr. Roy, who will perform a complete assessment of your teeth, gums, jaw joints, and surrounding oral and maxillofacial structures. After this evaluation, we will gather any necessary diagnostic records, including x-rays, scans, photos, and impressions. This information will allow Dr. Roy to visualize the underlying bone structures, assess your current condition, and begin designing a customized treatment plan.

Questions to Ask

Dr. Roy will cover several basics of orthodontics during your initial visit. However, we also encourage patients to ask questions as well. Some of the most common questions we hear every day include:

  • Can my condition be treated with orthodontics?
  • How long will my treatment last?
  • Is it best to begin treatment soon, or wait until later?
  • Will I require any extractions prior to treatment?
  • How much will my treatment cost?
  • What are my payment options?
  • What types of appliances will be used during my treatment?

Dr. Roy

We will do everything we can to make sure all of your questions are answered. While many of these questions can be addressed during the initial consultation, more specific concerns may be discussed after Dr. Roy analyzes your x-rays. In some cases, we can discuss your treatment options with you on the same day. If your case is more complex, we may schedule you for a second appointment in which we will outline the details of your treatment.

Financial Options

Your total cost will depend on the severity of your condition and the extent of your treatment. Our financial experts will be available to discuss payment options with you. At Roy Orthodontics, we never want cost to stand in the way of the treatment you deserve. That is why we offer a variety of financial solutions to fit every patient’s needs and budget. We believe in cost transparency. Therefore, we make sure you always know exactly where your money is going.

My sincere thanks to Dr. Roy and his team for showing me the way! My baby teeth had to be crowned for years since 2 of my adult teeth never came in. This was just one piece of the puzzle that needed figuring out. I’m proud of my smile and it shows every time I meet someone!Liz
